25 YEAR GUARANTEE

We, LHT ANODISERS being approved licensees of Sandalor anodising for the treatment of aluminium pressings, sheeting and extrusions hereby guarantee that subject to the following terms and conditions, all Sandalor, finishes supplied by us on the Development named overleaf will for a period of 25 years, from the date of process, be free of corrosion and have the following properties:-

1. Corrosion resistance

Corrosion resistance measured according to BS1615:1987 Section 8 (BS5466 Part 3 CASS test and evaluation according to BS3745) shall better rating 8, and that in the event of joint corrosion or corrosion occurring on damaged areas this will not propagate or undermine the adjacent anodic film irrespective as to the frequency of degree of maintenance carried out as set out in clause (v) on page 2.

2. Abrasion resistance

Abrasion resistance measured according to BS EN 12373-9:1999 shall have a thickness wear index of less than 1.4.

3. Light resistance

Light resistance measured according to BS6161 Part 8, for 100 hours shall better a grey scale 4 value, when evaluated in accordance with BS1006 Section A02.

The exposed external surface area must be predetermined by the customer and agreed by the applicator and the film shall in all aspects comply with BS3987/1991.

The guarantee shall be subject to the following conditions:-

(i) That the material anodised is one of the following aluminium alloys namely aluminium alloy 6063 for extrusion and J57S for sheet, or any other aluminium alloys agreed in writing by us prior to application of the anodising.

(ii) That the customer shall have requested the work to be carried out by us to BS3987/1991 under the terms of this guarantee.

(iii) That the surface of the material to be anodised is clean, not corroded, nor previously chemically treated. Cont/...

(iv) That the material anodised is not exposed to continuous heat of 70 degrees Centigrade or above and is not sited in the direct influence zones of acid or industrial or other aggressive emission sources, which are known or believed to be damaging or corrosive to anodising.

(v) Maintenance cleaning should be carried out when the finishes become soiled. Cleaning intervals should be determined by the amount of soiling, but in any case should not be greater than one year.

(vi) That no remedial work is carried out on the anodised coating by any person other than ourselves, or any time after we have anodised the product.

(vii) That notification of any defect in the anodic coating is made to us in writing within 60 days of the defect becoming apparent.

(viii) That in the event of failure of any of the guaranteed properties our liability is limited to a sum equivalent to the cost of dismantling, remaking and re-fixing such parts as are necessary to enable us to rectify by re-anodising and re-fixing those parts which are affected, or if the cost is less, then, by agreement to carry out the rectification on site by repainting using an approved wet system.

(ix) The product to which the anodising is applied is installed on premises within the United Kingdom, the Channel Islands, Isle of Man, Eire or any of the following European countries, namely, Austria Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Holland, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, West Germany, Yugoslavia, or any other country agreed in writing by us prior to application of the anodising.

(x) That in the event of any claim against us under this guarantee, the burden of proof that we carried out the work in dispute and that all other conditions of this guarantee have been complied with, rests with the customer.

(xi) This guarantee is personal to the client and neither it nor any of its terms shall be capable of assignment, charge, or be disposable in any manner whatsoever. In the event of any attempt to do so, the guarantee shall cease to have effect.

(xii) That, in addition to the foregoing, our terms of business shall apply to all work carried out by us; in cases of conflict between such terms and the provisions of the guarantee, the provisions of this guarantee shall prevail.
